In the 1960s, Wernher von Braun, the leading rocket engineer of the United States, saw the future and it was the space age. In 1961, he had already helped put the first American, Alan Shepard, into space. A year later he was putting John Glenn, the first American to orbit the Earth, into orbit. Now he was turning his attention to the moon. The lunar landing mission that he and his colleagues designed became the Apollo program, which landed the first two men on the moon in 1969.

(48) It is true that the cost of manufacturing cars has fallen dramatically because of mass production and high-tech, but this does not mean that consumers are paying less for their cars.
